The Frederick and Ophelia Tate Ogier Gardens is the epicenter of innovative environmental and public health programming. Located within the lush campus of the University of North Florida, the organic gardens feature row crops, a wide variety of fruit trees, raised vegetable beds, and peaceful sitting areas for students to relax. Carmen was the founding Director and lead designer for the gardens. She managed numerous events and coordinated student volunteers. Carmen also negotiated with campus catering to integrate harvested produce into the University's dining hall menu.
